Help San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy win $25,000!

One of Eight nonprofits selected that exemplify environmental stewardship in San Diego. Winner receives $25,000 grant.

Did you know? San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy leads more than 3,000 people a year on naturalist-guided walks in San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve. Students, weekend visitors, and community groups explore their connection to wetlands and inspiring views that make San Elijo Lagoon so special; one of San Diego's largest coastal wetlands.

Make your vote for wetlands!
Each ECO Ambassador has received a grant from SDG&E. Now, one organization stands the chance to win an additional $25,000 for environmental education.

SELC's prize amount, if awarded, will go toward environmental education programs. Specifically, an elementary ecology program in Title I Escondido schools called Our Living Watershed: Teaching Scientific Literacy in San Elijo Lagoon. This program brings third, fourth, and fifth graders to San Elijo Lagoon. Each year, these students build upon what they learn in consecutive annual field trips.

When nature is familiar in childhood, we will better understand as adults what it means to protect and create special places.

The ECO Ambassadors campaign is a collaborative between San Diego River Park Foundation, San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E), and CBS8. The partnership aims to build regional environmental awareness by educating and engaging San Diegans on innovative environmental programs that positively impact the San Diego region.
