Winter Bird Walk with President's Council

The Conservancy's continued successes in protecting and enhancing the reserve depend on our ability to foster a shared sense of stewardship for this precious natural resource.

The Conservancy Endowment was established to ensure the financial future of key Conservancy programs by protecting assets through careful and intelligent investments.

Our strategic goal is to increase the endowment to $2 million in the next few years. The resulting endowment earnings will secure the Conservancy's ability to:

Conduct community outreach and education. Last year, more than 3,800 school children and the general public joined us in guided hikes of the reserve.
Support docent-naturalist development.
Protect San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve and its watershed, by continuing our scientific monitoring, restoration activities, and land acquisition efforts for the future of San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve, and our future generations.

ENDOWMENT GOALS

Increase endowment, ensuring long-term support of education, research and restoration programs.
Make available to the Conservancy the interest earned on endowment investments for current expenses and special needs.
Endowment growth ensures the future of our programs by providing annual unrestricted earnings of an estimated $75,000 by 2015.
