Overview:
Most fish live in either fresh water or salt water. But the tiny, adaptable California killifish can tolerate salinities ranging from pure freshwater to water that's nearly four times saltier than the ocean. It can also handle pollution, changes in oxygen levels, and a broad range of temperatures. The Killifish's mouth is small and pointed upward, an adaptation for gobbling up insects and larvae from the water's surface.
