Overview:

Status: Threatened
The Western Snowy Plover has been listed as threatened since 1993. This little shorebird's light back and darker head camouflages it as it forages on beaches strewn with driftwood, stones, and shells. But on groomed and raked beaches it's more easily spotted by predators like the American Crow. Conservancy biologists are creating additional dune habitat to support this bird's survival in the lagoon.
