Family Fun Days

Co-Presented By:
San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy | San Diego County Parks & Recreation

Each month, kids learn about lagoon life through hands-on fun, craft making, discovery stations and animal encounters. We give nature the spotlight and invite our younger generations to explore the world outdoors with Conservancy naturalists, County Parks rangers and families. Adventure-filled Family Fun Days includes TRACK Trails activity guides and the opportunity to earn a Junior Ranger Badge.

Each winter, millions of birds fly along the western coastline of North America to and from breeding grounds. Here at San Elijo Lagoon, it’s home away from home, with a protected place to rest and refuel.

BIRDS, BEAKS & FEET: February 3
All birds have beaks that are designed to feast on different foods. Did you know? Some beaks are shaped for cracking nuts while others are designed for probing sticky mud! Learn about beaks, feet and everything neat that helps a bird survive and thrive.

Are you taller than a heron? While most animals grow up, birds also grow out — so that some wingspans are impressively long. Did you know? Birds don’t only use their feathers for flight! Come learn about different wingspans and feather types of our local birds.
