2017 Holiday Season Discovery Tours

Toyon by Elizabeth Venrick, PhD

LIFE BETWEEN THE TIDES - HOLIDAY STYLE

Visitors to San Elijo Lagoon will enjoy festive colors—red “holly” berries of the green toyon and white flowering coyote brush. Welcome, birds! San Elijo Lagoon nurtures winged visitors during the Pacific flyway migration, here to rest and refuel at our important wetlands.

See a variety of shorebirds and ducks. Approximately 40% of North America’s bird species have been observed in this place where ocean meets land. Trailgoers might see Mullet, slender silvery fishes, splash from the water. This is life between the tides at one of San Diego’s most diverse coastal wetlands.
