NATURALIST TRAINING

Be a Reserve Protector.

Apply your passion for nature at San Elijo Lagoon, you'll learn from experts about the history, flora, and fauna of San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve, and share your inspiration with others for protecting wetlands.

Becoming a Naturalist for the conservancy is a rewarding experience. Training also offers practical tips in interpretive techniques and how to lead groups of students and adults.

PRIMARY ROLE: TRAIL GUIDE
We are seeking volunteers who can lead walks. The conservancy’s greatest opportunity is to lead school children on field trips, with a majority in the elementary grades. In addition, naturalists lead special weekend tours and assist in nature-themed family events throughout the year. Naturalists are also County of San Diego volunteers.
